PROCESSION INFORMATION

How do I enter?
Entering the procession is easy, simply decide on your theme, costumes or performance and then fill out the form which can be obtained from either the Ross Town Library or downloaded from our website (rosscarnival.org.uk). Please check which class you’ll be entered for and state it on the entry form. Electronically completed forms should be emailed to lukebyronwilliams@live.co.uk.

Do we need our own stewards and helpers?
It is not necessary, but will be a great help to us if you could. We would suggest 6 helpers for class 1 entries and 4 for classes 2, 3 & 6. These helpers are essential to the safety of participants and on-lookers.

Can I collect for a registered Charity?
Sorry, only the Carnival Committee is authorised to collect money during the procession, however, we do encourage charities to enter the procession and/or apply to hold a stall at the carnival field.

Can we hand out sweets, leaflets, stickers etc.?
Yes, but only material relating to the fun of the day may be distributed. The Committee reserves the right to refuse the distribution of inappropriate material if necessary. It should also be noted that the committee cannot hold any responsibility for injury if sweets are thrown from floats.

Can we use music or Public Address systems?
Yes, but please let us know on your entry form so we can keep entries using music or Public Address systems apart in the procession line-up. The Committee reserves the right to direct these entries to turn down or turn off music at any time. It should also be noted that inappropriate music and/or messages will be asked to suspend transmissions.

Do we need Insurance?
Yes, all vehicles taking part in the procession are expected to have insurance and be road-worthy. The Committee reserves the right to withdraw entries if your vehicle is deemed un-road worthy.

Do we need a Risk Assessment?
It is not required for entry, but we do suggest in cases when you are responsible for someone’s care (e.g. A School) that you complete a risk assessment. The Carnival Committee cannot be held responsible for any Injury obtained whilst participating in the event.

Is there an entrance fee?
No.
