Due to the overwhelming positive feedback we are so very excited to announce the first ever Carnival Prince Competition! The newly appointed Prince and his attendees will also have their very own float!

Taking place at the same time as this year’s Carnival Princess Competition, it will be held on Sunday the 20th of May at 2pm in the Larruperz Centre. Parent(s) or Guardian(s) must accompany any boys and girls to the competition and they must be aged between 6 and 13 to enter.

Also the newly appointed Princess, Prince and attendees will need to be able to participate in this year’s Carnival by riding on the Princess and new Prince float which is on Saturday the 4th of August.

The new Princess and Prince will also be required to attend several events throughout the year. Prize money of £30 each will be given to the Prince and Princess to enable both to buy a suitable outfit. Good luck! #rosscarn18

The Ross-on-Wye Carnival has been held on the first Saturday in August every year since 1977, making it the town’s oldest community tradition.

The carnival is organised by a team of local volunteers and the event is supported by many of Ross-on-Wye’s businesses and charities.

Every year the annual procession makes its way around the town’s centre, showing off a magnificent display of floats and fancy dress.  Anyone can take part in the carnival, with some great prizes up for grab.  You can enter by filling in our entry form.

The procession ends at the Ropewalk where you will find plenty of great entertainment including a fun fair, many different stalls and a wide range of food and drink. You can see a map of the full procession route here.

In the run-up to the carnival, we organise a selection of competitions including a colouring-in contest, and the family favourite ‘Odd Object’. Click here to see what competitions we have lined up this year.
